Tomos Moped Inspection: All You Need to Know

You have clicked on this blog because you want to know what you need to do to get your Tomos moped approved for moped re-inspection. You've come to the right place to get all the essential information about the inspection procedure and what modifications you may need to make. Stijn will guide you through the steps you need to follow to upgrade your Tomos from moped to moped and get it approved. There are many requirements and specifications that must be met to get your Tomos through the inspection process. These requirements vary depending on the year of manufacture of your moped and the type of approval applicable to your particular model.

Here are some important points to consider:

General Inspection: Start with a visual inspection of your Tomos. Make sure there are no visible damages, dents or other defects. It is important that your moped looks in good condition.

Tire tread: Check the profile of your tires. If the tread is too low, replace your tires with new ones. Safety comes first.

Lighting: Make sure your lights are working properly. The headlight should be intact and illuminate well. Tail lights should have at least one reflector and can be supplemented by turn signals.

Brakes: Your brakes should work properly. They should be able to stop your Tomos quickly and safely.

Speed and Noise: Make sure your moped does not go faster than the legal speed limit for mopeds (e.g. 45 km/h). The sound level of your exhaust must not exceed 97 decibels.

Air Filter and Carburetor: Use a standard air filter and carburetor to meet the requirements.

Speedometer: The speedometer should be clearly visible and illuminated, especially at night.

Reflectors: Make sure your moped has the required reflectors, both at the rear and on the sides.

Brake light: Every Tomos model manufactured after December 31, 2006 must have a working brake light. Make sure that at least one of your brakes activates the brake light.

Setup and Modifications: Be careful with any modifications you have made to your Tomos. Adhere to the legal requirements to avoid having your moped rejected.

Keep in mind that there may be gray areas, especially if your Tomos model falls between different approval regulations. It is advisable to contact an inspection station or expert moped inspector for specific questions about your model and year of manufacture.

If you follow these steps and make sure your Tomos meets the legal requirements, you'll be well on your way to successfully getting your moped approved. If you still have questions or would like more information about this process, please let us know in the comments. We'd love to help you get started on your way to an approved Tomos. Thanks for watching!
